VolUnteer opportunities
Bristol Chaplaincy is excited to be looking for new people to join their growing team, and has a number of volunteer opportunities available.
If you’re interested in applying for any of the chaplaincy roles detailed below, or would like any further information, please email info@bristolchaplaincy.co.uk.
Crown Courts Chaplain
Our team of Chaplains provide support in the Bristol Crown Courts every Friday morning and bi-weekly on a Monday morning.
As a member of the team you will work in pairs with another chaplain to provide support to anyone involved in the courts process. This could be victims of crime, witnesses, defendants, family and friends, barristers, court staff or Judges.
The courts environment can be incredibly stressful, and we can often visibly see the anxiety that someone is facing. Our team bring moments of calm and peace to those struggling with the pressures of the day.
If you would like more information, why not join our Lead Chaplain for a taster day, before deciding if you would like to be involved or not.
Family Courts Chaplain
We are currently planning to expand our successful crown courts chaplaincy, into the family courts in 2026. The family courts are responsible for resolving disputes within families, primarily focusing on matters concerning children and finances following the breakdown of relationships. They also deal with protection from domestic abuse, adoption, fostering and issues related to the medical treatment of children.
Our new Family Courts Chaplaincy team will directly provide non-judgemental support to families who are going through the court process.
Volunteer Chaplain - University of Law
Do you have a background in either Law, or Professional Services? Are you interested in joining a team of chaplains at the University of Law, supporting both students and staff in the challenges they are facing both in the university and in their personal lives.
We are looking for a chaplain to join our existing team at the University of law, in Temple Quay, Bristol. The team provides chaplaincy support on site every Monday or Tuesday between 12:30pm and 2pm.
Business and Workplace Chaplain
We are currently working on a new service offering to provide onsite chaplaincy in Businesses across Bristol City Centre. We are looking for a new business chaplain who has experience of working in a business environment and who can work with us on the launch and establishment of this new bespoke chaplaincy.
This is currently a volunteer role, which has the potential to become a paid role in the future, subject to funding.
Charity Fundraising and Grants Lead
We are looking for someone to lead our charity fundraising activities and to secure much needed funding for the charity through grant applications, fundraising initiatives, and donations.
We have many new opportunities to help more people facing challenges in their lives, however, the progression of these opportunities is being limited by the available finances. You can make a real difference by supporting the financial growth of the charity.
This is initially a volunteer role, but when suitable funding is secured will potentially become a paid role.
How do I get involved?
If you would like to find out more about any of our volunteering opportunities, please email us at info@bristolchaplaincy.co.uk and we will send you an application form.
We will provide all the training required and you will work alongside an existing member of our team.
If you are interested in one of our courts roles, we are currently inviting potential volunteers to a taster day, so you can observe first hand how the team works before deciding if you would like to be involved or not.
